The new O-Works Red and Black putters were driven by extensive feedback from Odyssey tour staffers. They asked Odyssey to combine clean red and black finishes with Odyssey’s revolutionary Microhinge insert technology, especially in mallet head shapes, so Odyssey got to work and made it happen quickly. These head colors have been generating a tremendous amount of excitement, and Odyssey knows that if the best players are putting them in play, amateurs are going to love ’em too.
Our Microhinge technology provides incredible gains in topspin and roll at impact, regardless of your stroke. The stainless steel Microhinge plate is co-molded into our legendary White Hot insert, providing great feel and getting the ball into a better roll so it stays on line.
This insert technology has proven itself on Tour from the first time Phil Mickelson put it into play, and it’s created a new way to roll for pros and amateurs alike. Our R&D department focused on the effect of the insert at impact, and the results have been nothing short of amazing.
Proven Head Shapes & Toe Hang Mallets
These are some of our most prolific models that have dominated Tour events and major championships for years. As the #1 putter across the major tours, we’re constantly working to develop and tweak shapes for ultimate performance.
A massive trend on Tour has been the switch to mallets with toe hang (over 28 percent of ’17 PGA TOUR wins were with a toe hang mallet). The S Neck is a short slant hosel (pictured in all putters above) that gives Odyssey Red & Black putters the popular toe hang feature.
Toe Hang allows for more face rotation through the stroke. If you have a tendency to miss putts to the right, a putter with toe hang will help you close the face at impact and hit your target more often.
Additional benefits of our mallet head shapes include easier alignment and higher MOI. We offer all our mallets with the toe hang S neck hosel as well as face balanced hosel options.
Odyssey has owned the alignment story for the better part of 20 years. Whether it’s the legendary 2-Ball, the iconic #7, the 62-shooting Jailbird (see Branden Grace at the 2017 Open Championship), or the aesthetically pleasing new Marxman shape (pictured above), nobody makes putters that are easier to align than Odyssey and that isn’t about to change. If you find a putter easier to align than our Marxman, please let us know.
